South Cambs District Council Sheltered Housing

There are 44 sheltered housing schemes in villages around Cambridgeshire

Usually bungalows, they consist of independent living units but within easy contact or with regular visits from scheme manager. In addition, most have communal rooms, and some have organised activities. All the units listed here have a pull cord emergency system that is active 24 hours a day throughout the year.

Sheltered housing is for independent living, but meals are usually provided if required.

As people get older they can tap into extra help i.e. Care or Housekeeping.

Richard Newcombe Court (Histon Road).

Purpose built recently, these were built to a very high standard (go and have a look) and contain one and two bedroom flats, with a large kitchen and walk-in showers. Guests can stay over and use the restaurant, and lovely gardens. All these flats have a balcony

Supported Housing Flats with limited appliances in rooms. Meals are provided.

Visit anytime Mon Friday and you will be made welcome.

Private flats for independent living – they only have a manger on site Monday to Friday.
