Mental Wellbeing Worker

As part of the project to improve the mental wellbeing of the community, Histon & Impington Community charity HICOM, has appointed Sefanit Inquai at the new Mental Wellbeing Worker. After pursuing a first profession in finance, Sefanit retrained as a Counsellor and now works in a clinical role with adults. She previously worked for the YMCA as a Counsellor for children and young adults, additionally she gives some of her time to volunteering with Age UK.

Sefanit says “I am excited to be able to take up the position as ‘Mental Wellbeing Worker’ with the HICOM.  We can all do something to improve our mental health and my role with HICOM is to help to raise awareness of issues which can impact mental wellbeing in the community and to provide information about the available services. I feel very strongly that raising awareness of mental wellbeing and normalising our various experiences is an important part of the process of helping those in the community who are struggling with their mental health to feel heard and supported.”

Initially Sefanit has concentrated on working with students at both Impington Village College and Histon Junior School to help them with their wellbeing and resilience.

In the community we are forming a group of people interested in mental wellbeing and running a number of events and workshops offering advice and education for anyone wishing to develop a greater understanding. If you are interested in joining us please contact Sefanit who is very much look forward to meeting some of you there and working together to improve our general wellbeing in Histon and Impington.
